The Black Dahlia Murder kicked off their “Up From the Sewers Tour” with a sold out show Friday night in Chicago, IL at Concord Music Hall with support from Undeath, Rivers of Nihil, Carnifex, and After the Burial. After a year and seven months since my last concert, to say I was excited is a total understatement.
The band came out and opened the set with “I Will Return” – which I found quite fitting since this is their first tour since the pandemic shut everything down. The excitement in the air from both the fans and the band was palpable. Circle pits, crowd surfing, and a feeling of normalcy was in the air. The band was on-point and it felt as if there wasn’t nearly a 2 year break from shows.

If you plan to see this tour, check your local venue requirements for entry. Many are requiring proof of vaccination or a negative COVID test within 3 days of the show, and many are requiring masks inside. No matter what your opinions are, please remember the entertainment industry was hit hard with the shut down, and for many people, this is their first return to work in nearly 2 years. Be kind and go enjoy the show!
