Supporting underground metal since 2006

Sterling: “Sterling” Album Review

Sterling: “Sterling” Album Review

The transcendent qualities of music is even more real when listeners are transported to another time. That time for Sterling is the late ‘70s and early ‘80s, and their brand of hard rock and heavy metal is a savory blast from the past.

These Canadians released their eponymous debut in 2018, and it is a banger for those looking to drift away for a bit. Tammy-Lou Nieman, Mike Sudar, Cary Lynn Cooper, and Keith Newman deliver galloping riffs and vocals befitting a supped up Camero, and it is done with amped-up swagger that recalls Heart in prime form.

Sterling offer a trip back in time that is more than nostalgic. It is a fruitful articulation of influences past and present, and it feels just right.
