Hailing from Atlanta, this 3 member band takes doom metal to a new low. And….this is a good thing! You can call it doom, sludge, crust/punk, stoner metal, or whatever you want- Sons of Tonatiuh kicks ass. The riffs and guitar sounds bring back a triumphant Black Sabbath sound, combine it with Eyehategod and Weedeater and then churn it over into their own sound. Sons of Tonatiuh (pronounced “Sons of Tahn-ah-tea-ah”) are starting their own revolution with a wall of doom that could start WWIII.
“Season of Pills” is easily my favorite track. The song starts out in high gear-grinds to a slow, sludgy tempo, then kicks it back into full force. Great vocals and guitar tones too!
“One by One” is also a favorite. Haunting, screaming vocals combined with a WALL of a riff will pick you up and slam you down repeatedly!
If you are a Black Sabbath, Eyehategod, Weedeater, or even a Down fan, you will get into this album. It has a heaviness of it’s own. The riffs will get stuck in your head. You will be caught headbanging at work listening to this. Trust me on this one!
