This is the news that all Slipknot fans have been waiting to hear. According to Corey Taylor, the band will begin "major, major work" on its fifth album in March! In case you have no idea what month it is, that's NEXT MONTH! The Slipknot front man also gave U.K.’s Kerrang this exciting update on what we can expect from the material: “I can say that, to me — and this is only my opinion — it’s a cross between ‘Iowa’ and ‘Vol. 3: (The Subliminal Verses)’, but that’s honestly just scratching the surface. I think fans are going to be very, very excited when they hear this stuff. I’ve written lyrics for everything that we have right now and it’s feeling pretty good. It feels like the story of the band so far, which is a totally different take on what I’ve been used to writing with SLIPKNOT, but I think, because of everything we’ve been through, it’s time to tell that story. Not just from our point of view, but from everything around us. So, yeah… it’s going to be interesting. It’s going to be everything you want in a SLIPKNOT album, and everything you wouldn’t expect.”
As he said in the statement above, this band has been through a lot, so I would expect this record to be more emotional and aggressive than anything we’ve heard from this band in a while. This will be the first album since the death of bassist Paul Gray and the departure of drummer Joey Jordison, and add that in with everything else going on around them, and this could be a truly special record. The work begins next month….get ready.
