Gary Holt, Dave Lombardo, Nick Oliveri, and Amen guitarist Casey Chaos have joined forces to create a currently unnamed supergroup (more like super DUPER group). Holt is still touring with Lombardo and Slayer as a replacement for the spider-bitten Jeff Hanneman, and the musical chemistry between the two is undeniable. “It just comes easy for us,” said Holt in an interview with Noisecreep. “We’re both into being spontaneous and improvising. We probably have an album’s worth of material.”

The group first officially came together with the help of producer Ross Robinson, when he was asked to score a documentary about Phil Anselmo’s House Of Shock. Robinson, who has worked with bands like Slipknot, Machine Head, and Sepultura, also tried to recruit Robert Trujillo for the project — no word on whether or not he was successful, but we’re not exactly holding our breath. Nevertheless, the lineup is already more than exciting enough for anyone even slightly interested in ’80s thrash. Looks like we’ve already got something to look forward to in the new year!
