It’s not you, it’s me.
Seriously though, I have had a wonderful time writing for Hear Evil. I have had wonderful interview opportunities, I have gone to AMAZING festivals, I’ve gotten to listen to awesome albums before all of my friends. At least for the time being though, I’ve got to hang up my pen. Rest assured that I have loved every minute of my time with Hear Evil. However, if there’s one thing I’ve learned from watching my friends and relatives cling to shitty relationships for the sake of normalcy, it’s that I need to break things off once I realize my heart isn’t in it.
My friends, my heart is no longer in it.
I love Hear Evil, but I’m not IN love with it.
We’ve had some great times and I will always cherish that…have I shoehorned in enough cliches yet?
Goodbyes are hard, and considering the lack of serious-but-impermanent relationships in my life, “breaking up” with Hear Evil is one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do. You haven’t quite seen the last of me though! I have demoted myself from managing editor to occasional contributor, on a “whenever the mood strikes me” basis, which only means that you’re not going to see any more half-assed obligatory articles out of me. Win win. Also, I’ll still be on Twitter on my personal username (@metalcurmudgeon) so you can read all the anti-patriarchal and metal ramblings that helped put Hear Evil on the map.
Stay tr00, Hearers of Evil! I’ll catch you on the flipside! Take good care of Carol and Ashley for me 😉
