Randy Blythe recently confirmed that he will be releasing his “Dark Days” memoir on July 14th via Da Capo Press, and it’s a book I can’t wait to get my hands on. We all know how incredible of a front man and lyricist Randy Blythe is with Lamb Of God, but this will take his writing to a whole new level. Only Randy knows what was going on in his head throughout his time in Prague, and only Randy can eloquently tell his story, so I expect a powerful read once this arrives at my doorstep. In case you missed it, here’s the synopsis: “The memoir, which puts emphasis on the past year of his life, is an incredible, harrowing, heartbreaking, and redemptive story told in Blythe’s already well-recognized writing style. It seems that almost every major media outlet has attempted to righteously cover the story of Blythe’s arrest, incarceration, trial, and acquittal for manslaughter in the Czech Republic last year, but now, the man at the center of it all unveils the truths of the ordeal, personally detailing every aspect in his own words. No ghost-writers, no co-authors, just Randy Blythe, himself.”
Today Randy revealed the official cover of the memoir on his Instagram with this statement: “Ah, the final cover art for my book came in, & here it is- I am pleased! The cover was designed by Paul R. Brown of Bau-da Design Lab; Paul is a photographer, director, & graphic designer who has worked with a million bands on album covers & videos, as well as doing book covers for Nikki Sixx, Marilyn Manson, Motley Crüe & my pal Corey Taylor. The two photographs incorporated into the design were both taken by me; one is of Pankrác prison- I took this photo when I went back for trial- & the other is a self-portrait- I put on some extreme right wing talk radio and hit a remote shutter button a million times- wanted to make sure I had forgotten about the camera so I would get an “honest” photo- the radio did the trick- I was HIGHLY disturbed listening to their insane rantings, & that was what you see in the photo. I did NOT want my photo on the cover of the book, as it is not really a typical “rock memoir” & there are more than enough photos of me out there already, but it IS my first book, so I acquiesced to the publisher’s request. At least it’s not a cheesy “author/rock singer” photo, just me hanging out in my study, thinking about how nutty some people are. Note that the subtitle at bottom is simply “A Memoir”, NOT “My Trials & Tribulations”- I hated that, but we needed a working subtitle & someone else threw it out there & before I knew it BLAM it was up on Amazon. Speaking of which, the book is available for pre-order there (probably still with the “working cover”- I wanted to post this before they did- you saw it here first!), so go get your pre-order on!”
You heard the man! Pre-order your copy of his upcoming memoir right now!
