PIG DESTROYER, “BOOK BURNER” ALBUM REVIEW!

Pig Destroyer-Book Burner

Pig Destroyer have the gift of grind, and they wield it fantastically on Book Burner, their first release since 2007’s Phantom Limb.

The album’s fierce 19 tracks consume a mere 32 minutes, but even in its brevity, Book Burner brims with not only precision but agility. This isn’t your typical grind; the details stay crisp and clear, fighting their way through the mirth with ninja-like dexterity. The changes are crisp, and above all, Pig Destroyer don’t relent, bludgeoning mercilessly across an acrobatically fierce half-hour. Standouts include the chugging opener, “Sis,” and the raging “Eve,” featuring Agoraphobic Nosebleed’s Katherine Katz on vocals.

Based upon a short story by vocalist J.R. Hayes, Book Burner decimates any doubt that Pig Destroyer deserve their place at the top of the grindcore heap.

Book Burner is out now on Relapse Records.
