Twenty years. Twenty years since the last studio album from seminal godfathers of doom, The Obsessed. Worth the wait? Fuck to the yes! Led by the almighty Scott “Wino” Weinrich, The Obsessed are back kicking ass and taking names with Sacred. And, oh my brothers and sisters … it is sublimely and incredibly badasse.
Still one of the best in metal/hard rock, if there was ever anyone to take over the mantle of “Patriarch of All Things Rock” from the late, great Lemmy Kilmister, it’s Wino. He of the crazy eyes and unbelievable stage presence, Wino is all things you want in a bandleader.
Sacred is pretty much amazing from beginning to end. If there was ever a band that should be a whole lot bigger and getting much more recognition, it’s these guys. Still as strong and hard hitting as they have ever been, Sacred simply proves that when you got it, you got it. Hands fucking down.
With a mindblowing 14 tracks, Sacred never lets up from beginning until end with one killer track after another. From the title track to “Sodden Jackal” to “Razor Wire” to “Perseverance,” it’s just a winner winner, chicken dinner of a record. I know in this day and age very few fans actually buy a record, but seriously, dig deep and find the money to purchase this bitch!
Sacred is out now on Relapse Records. Buy it here!
