The promise of new music from Morbid Angel conjures some trepidation. Blame it on 2011’s Illud Divinum Insanus, the industrial-infused album that seemed to undermine the death metal cred that the band had worked diligently to establish.

“Piles of Little Arms,” the first track officially released from Kingdoms Disdained, is encouraging, to say the least. It is heavy, recalling the old school sound of these death metal dealers. The album will be released on December 1, and it is the first with ex-Abysmal Dawn drummer Scott Fuller and Vadim Von guitarist Dan Vadim Von.
