How cool is this?! Metallica already revealed that they would be re-issuing “Kill ‘Em All” And “Ride The Lightning” for Record Store Day, but that was only the beginning! The heavy metal icons have now been named the 2016 “Record Store Day” Ambassadors!
Here’s what Lars had to say on the honor: “Independent record stores are part of Metallica‘s DNA. They have been pivotal in shaping each one of us into the music fanatics we’ve all become. We could not be any prouder to be Record Store Day Ambassadors for 2016 and are looking forward to screaming from every rooftop the next few months about everything independent record store and beyond.”
Metallica has played a huge part of Record Store Day since teaming up in 2008, and they have very special plans for this year!
Here’s the official report from Metallica.com: “This year’s Record Store Day theme is the support of our French family who suffered bewildering losses in 2015, so what better way to lend a hand than to visit the vaults and share our performance at Le Bataclan, Paris in June of 2003? Metallica will release Liberté, Egalité, Fraternité, Metallica! – Live at Le Bataclan. Paris, France – June 11th, 2003, a CD featuring a live recording from the club, with the band, Record Store Day and independent record stores donating proceeds to benefit Fondation de France’s Give For France charity. The nine-song set has been re-mixed and will be available on CD exclusively to independent retail and on Metallica.com with all profits from sales going directly to the victims of the Parisian attacks.”
