Today would have been Cliff Burton‘s 53rd birthday, but as we all know, his life was tragically taken from us on an icy road in Sweden back in 1986. His legacy in the metal scene was already well written by then, as his contributions to Metallica‘s first three albums is now historic. “Kill ‘Em All”, “Ride the Lightning“, and “Master of Puppets” changed, not only the heavy metal world, but for bass players like myself, it changed how many of us approached the four string instrument. His style and energy on stage was unlike anything we’d ever seen before, and so it’s always important to keep his memory alive, especially on his birthday! So to celebrate, listen to Cliff Burton‘s solo bass tracks on some of Metallica‘s biggest hits below, and raise one up to our fallen icon!
And of course…..RIP CLIFF!
