I rarely post anything about KoRn anymore on this site, but this is HUGE news! During the band’s upcoming tour the band will be celebrating the 20th anniversary of the self-titled’s release by playing it from front to back! This includes the track, “Daddy,” which Jonathan Davis previously said he would NEVER play due to it’s subject matter. Here’s the full statement from Jonathan on 93.3 WMMR: “On festivals we’re going to play the first album in its entirety. Once the 20th anniversary hits we’ll start doing it. We’re even going play Daddy – I said I would never do it, but I’m going to do it anyway. We’re going to do the complete album in its entirety then tag on some songs at the end of the show. I think we’ll recapture what we were doing at that time, when we were coming up. We didn’t have any production; it was just one backdrop. So I think it’ll be that down-and-dirty, cool, old-school vibe, and we’ll do the first record…this year. Once the 20th anniversary hits, we’ll start doing it.”
I was only ten when this record came out, but I’ll never forget hearing it in 1996 at my friend’s house and being completely mindfucked. At that point I was twelve, a little messed up in the head, and I had never heard anything that heavy in my life. Throw in the intensity of Jonathan’s lyrical performance, and this album took over the next few years of my life. So for me, it would be an incredible thing to see it performed from front to back. This album was VERY important in myself getting into heavy metal, and hell, I probably still know all the words, so bring it on live! This band may get mixed reactions from heavy metal fans today, but they still put one of the best live shows around! I will be there for this!
