KING RHINO’S TOP 10 OF 2013

Contributor King Rhino dishes on his top 10 albums of 2013. Some you have likely heard, others you may have missed, but it is clear that there are some solid releases on this list.

10.  PICAPORTERS : ELEFANTES

My South American brothers. These guys are the real deal.

9. ATMA WEAPON : DARK TOWER

Many, many people need to know about North Carolina’s Atma Weapon. Vocalist Mick Armstrong is a legend in the making.

8.  BLACK LABEL SOCIETY : UNBLACKENED

C’mon! It’s motherfucking Zakk Wylde!

7.  KORN : THE PARADIGM SHIFT

Once a fan, always a fan. Love the boys from Bakersfield.

6. TOMBSTONE HIGHWAY : RURALIZER

Some killer old school bluesy Black Sabbath influenced metal from a couple of badass paesanos from Italia.

5. FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH : THE WRONG SIDE OF HEAVEN AND THE RIGHTEOUS SIDE OF HELL

A very guilty pleasure, a double album of Ivan Moody and the Sin City juggernaut that is Five Finger Death Punch. Yes, yes indeed.

4. STRANGERS TO WOLVES : LOST BOYS

This young band out of Cleveland, Ohio, is gosh-darned good at doing that hardcore rock-and-roll thing.

3. SCORPION CHILD : SELF-TITLED

Oh, please. Just buy it and tell me you can’t stop listening to one of the best albums of the year, no matter what the genre. These Austin boys deserve your love.

2. VENOMIN JAMES : THE UNHOLY MOUNTAIN

OK. It’s not out officially yet, but it exists and it’s spectacular.

1. AMON AMARTH : DECEIVER OF THE GODS

Vikings! Heavy metal vikings! This album is what heavy metal, beer, big buxom blonde girls with braids and viking ships are all about.
