King Parrot: “Ugly Produce” Album Review

King Parrot’s brand of tongue-in-cheek grindcore is not only fun, it’s addictive as hell! These guys pull no punches on Ugly Produce with heavy-as-hell riffs and out-of-control-freight-train pace, all while injecting humor that makes it extremely enjoyable. The production here is flawless, too!

These Aussie’s bring the punch right out of the gate with “Entrapment.” It’s blistering in pace and Matthew “Youngy” Young’s vocals are razor sharp. “Piss Wreck” continues the bludgeoning amid a more catchy and memorable chorus. This song is destined for live performance greatness! “Disgrace Yourself” hearkens to a young Napalm Death with its heaviness and gang-style chorus. “All Hail the Grub” has more of a punk feel to it, but it is no less heavy. “Ten Pounds of Shit in a Five Pound Bag,” the first single from the album, is a stellar representation of modern grindcore, and “Now It Stokes Frenzy” is an all-out grind/thrash feast for your ears! “Numb Skull” brings back that punk/crossover feel, complete with a chorus that will be heard in venues across the world at ear-shattering volumes!

King Parrot are here to show that extreme metal can be completely punishing while still retaining a sense of humor. Ugly Produce is nothing less than stellar, and I highly recommend it!

Ugly Produce is out September 22 on Housecore Records in the U.S. (Buy) and Agonia Records in Europe (Buy).
