Inter Arma are ambitious, to say the least.
They blew minds with their debut Sky Burial, and then followed that up with an even more reality-bending effort with the 45-minute, single track The Cavern EP. Given this kind of innovative output, these Virginians quickly established themselves as go-tos for a new generation of metallers.
Inter Arma will return on April 12 with their fourth album, Sulphur English on Relapse Records. They have released the first single from the album, “Citadel.”
Vocalist Mike Paparo writes:
The lyrics to “Citadel” were written as a sort of clarion call to myself about overcoming depression and the demons that manifest with it. It, like most of the lyrical content on the record, is deeply personal to me.For the band as a whole, Sulphur English is an ill-tempered, unrepentant act of defiance towards stagnation and complacency. We create this music on our own terms and we refuse to compromise our collective vision, for better or worse.
