Hey kids, do you miss coming home from 8th grade and putting K-Rock on? Well, if you’re like me and you want to recapture the magic of falling for a band you never heard of, somewhere between metal and grunge on the Mohs scale of music hardness, listen to Black Dawn. Okay, maybe I’m cheating a little because they’ve been around longer than some of our fans have been alive (formed in 1992 with the same line-up they’ve got today), but they’ve kept things DIY and local all these years, and they definitely deserve a shout-out.
Black Dawn has made a name for themselves in New York by playing music that sounds like a heavier cross between Godsmack and Alice In Chains (in a good way, I promise). So far, the band has only gigged around the US, but they’ve performed in a lot of famous places with a lot of famous folks. Their most recent full-length album was released in 2004, but they’re planning a comeback and I can’t wait to see what’s next!
I can’t embed ReverbNation tracks, nor do they seem to have anything on YouTube, so feel free to give them a listen HERE.
