When it was time to record their self-titled debut, A Flourishing Scourge called in some heavy-hitters.
Recording took place last June at Gojira‘s Silver Cord Studios in Brooklyn, New York with Jamie Uretz (Gojira, Anthrax). Once complete, the eight tracks were mastered by Jens Bogren (Opeth, Fleshgod Apocalypse, Amon Amarth). And now, the results of this ambitious venture are beginning to emerge in the form of the album’s first track, “Tidal Waves.”
The multi-segmented, nine-plus-minute workout is intense from beginning to end. A buzzing hive of riffs carry the main theme, while orchestral swells adorn its tranquil mid-section that eventually bursts into a flurry of aggression. While it ebbs and flows, “Tidal Waves” maintains a combustible pressure throughout.
A Flourishing Scourge is out June 9 on the band’s own imprint, Begotten Records. Pre-order the album here!
