Calgary, Canada, is going to get loud over the weekend of September 14-17 when Calgary Metalfest V kicks into gear. The festival, which was originally started as a birthday celebration for for organizer Nate Reno, has grown into much, much more. This year promises to be particularly exciting with the fathers and pioneers of Canadian thrash – Annihilator, Exciter (original line-up), Razor and Sacrifice – sharing the stage on the headlining night of the fest on September 17th at Flames Central.
While that is exciting enough, there is more. The Exalted Piledriver will host their first ever Western Canadian performance on Thursday, September 15, at Distortion. They will be joined by Crystal Mess, Savage Streets, Profits of Crime and Concrete Funeral. Toxic Holocaust will headline their first Calgary appearance since 2011 on Friday, September 16 at Dickens Pub, with support from Disciples of Power, The Order of Chaos, Fornication, Black Pestilence and Concrete Funeral.
