Is it just me or do you pretty much know in a split second what a band with Wizard in their name are going to sound like?
I have to be honest, Electric Wizard … you ain’t Black Sabbath. Even with your album’s title of Wizard Bloody Wizard, a play on Sabbath’s Sabbath Bloody Sabbath, it just ain’t cliking with this reviewer.I’ m sorry. At times, it sounds like The Smashing Pumpkin’s Billy (excuse me, William now) Corgan put to together a little bluesy metal side project. Overall, it’s a decent record with some grinding, bluesy guitar-work, but the vocals are thin, reedy and lost in the echoes. No balls at all.
You want to sound like Sabbath? You better have the cojones to back it up.
Wizard Bloody Wizard is out November 17 on Spinefarm Records. Buy it here!
