Yesterday the metal world was rocked when we learned that legendary drummer, Nick Menza, passed away at the age of 51. Dave Mustaine was just as surprised as we were, as you read in his tweet, but decided to go on with Megadeth‘s headlining set at Rock ‘N Derby. Before they hit the stage, Dave Mustaine spoke about Nick’s legacy with Q103 Albany, and wrote a touching tribute to his friend. During the set, the band held a moment of silence in his honor, and Dave dedicated their performance to his memory. You can read his statement, hear the interview, and watch the powerful live tribute below.
Rest in peace Nick, you will be greatly missed.
