Last week the sludgecore giants, Colombian Necktie, released their highly anticipated album, “Twilight Upon Us,” to the masses and it exceeded every and all expectations. This is, without a doubt, one of the most emotional and powerful records of the year, and how could it not be with what this band has gone through. Before it’s release the guys released this statement on the material, “We suffered through the worst times in our lives when writing this record. Some of us were homeless. Some of us lost family. All of us lost friends. But instead of letting that affect us and quit, we went into the studio and let the music heal us instead. This album is the result of that. If you know us, have chilled with us, been at a show with us, then you know this is the record to listen to because this is us. It’s 100% what we’re about.”
Although every track has it’s own undeniable power, the closing track is one that truly takes your breath away. “Kevin’s Song” is just under eleven minutes long, and an intense tribute to their fallen band mate. It incorporates every aspect of their sound, but takes it to a whole new level that is simply exceptional. Everyone here at SkullsNBones is honored to have a stream of that final track below!
