CLAMFIGHT, “I VERSUS THE GLACIER” ALBUM REVIEW!

Clamfight - I Versus the Glacier

New Jersey’s Clamfight leave the weapons at home and bring a flurry of knuckles to the party with their sophomore release, I Versus the Glacier. Needless to say, it is a thorough pounding.

Track after track, they lay down a base of distorted riffage, then work it into lather, adding details – sometimes subtle, other times aggressive – that deepen the arrangements. “The Eagle” is raw, leaving no face un-bloodied; “River of Ice” is thunderous, eventually bringing the pace to a gallop; and  they close I Versus the Glacier with the at-times anthemic “Stealing the Ghost Horse,” one of the highlights of the album.

Melding elements of hardcore, sludge, and stoner metal, Clamfight create a tonal resonance that doesn’t die; it pulses evenly, an impenetrable heartbeat of fury and rage. The result is a multi-layered masterpiece in I Versus the Glacier.

I Versus the Glacier is out now on The Maple Forum.
