On February 19th, 1948, a young boy was born in England who would forever change the music world. That boy, and now legend, is known as Tony Iommi. The legendary Black Sabbath guitarist turns 67 years young today, but his legacy is already etched in stone. Along with Ozzy, Geezer and Bill, Black Sabbath created heavy metal, and the masterful riffs written by Tony Iommi will live on forever in all of our minds. As we all know, Tony created these famous riffs even though he lost the tips of two of his fingers in an accident. To help celebrate his birthday and legacy, VH1 has unveiled a brand new animated short that better explains that famous story, and you can watch it below. Along with Tony’s words narrating the clip, the inaugural video for “The Complete History of Heavy Metal” is beautifully put together, and the animation is just exceptional. Almost as exceptional as Tony Iommi, but not quite. He is, Tony Iommi, after all. Happy birthday to the icon!
