Burzum vocalist, Varg Vikernes is back in the news once again after being arrested for suspicion of plotting a massacre.
Varg, who spent 21 years in prison for arson of three Christian churches in Norway and the murder of Mayhem vocalist Euronymous (Øystein Aarseth) in 1993, seemed to be living a quiet life upon his release and had changed his ways til last week. Last Wednesday, Varg sent a letter to the Sandefjord Daily Examiner, claiming that since his release in March 2009, he has been secretly working on a weather control device that could “rain the fury of the gods upon our world.” The device, which he referred to as Odin’s Hammer, is capable of creating tornadoes and hurricanes, along with other types of obscure and bizarre weather events. On Thursday, he claimed to have caused the blizzard that covered Riyadh, Saudi Arabia with 12 inches of snow. He also claimed responsibility for the freak frog storm that interrupted Saturday’s football game between Manchester United and Liverpool. He said: “I’ve shown you I can make frogs fall from the sky,” Varg said in a letter released on Sunday, “you will bow down before me…..YOUR BLACK METAL GOD.”
According to EuroNews.com: Varg is believed to have been amongst a list of names to have received the manifesto of Norwegian killer Anders Breivik, who shot dead 77 people in July of 2011. There were several suspicions that made the services fear he could possibly carry out a violent act too. They deemed him likely to prepare a large-scale act of terrorism. After his wife recently bought four rifles, the police searched his house for weapons and explosives today, along with taking the front man into custody.
