Brian Slagel’s “For the Sake of Heaviness: The History of Metal Blade Records” Coming In August

Few people have helped shape heavy metal than Brian Slagel. The founder and CEO of Metal Blade Records was visionary organized the early compilation The New Heavy Metal Revue Presents Metal Massacre in 1982, introducing the world to the likes of Metallica, Bitch, Malice, and Ratt, amongh others. That same year, he launched his label, and the rest is heavy metal history.

That history is getting an official exploration with For the Sake of Heaviness: The History of Metal Blade Records written by Slagel with Mark Eglinton, and featuring a foreword by Metallica’s Lars Ulrich. The book will release on August 29, and pre-order packages are available here.
