Once again, Brendon Small delivers the goods. The brilliant mind behind one of the greatest animated series and bands of all time, Dethklok, releases the second installment of the Galaktikon series, Galaktikon II: Become the Storm. This may be his magnum opus.
Once upon a time, musicians had envisioned albums telling a complete story with a beginning, a middle, and an end. But, to actually pull this off is not as easy as it seems. Small has no fucking problem in this department. If there has ever been a musician that could be kicking some major Hollywood ass on film projects, it’s this guy. He could be this generation’s John Williams. Jesus! I just had a vision of Small scoring a Star Wars film and immediately popped a raging chubby.
The Galaktikon project is a natural progression from the work and everything he accomplished with Dethklok, both in material and execution. This is a mutated bastard child of a killer techno-death album meets Guardians of the Galaxy. The playing and vocals are so spot on; it’s a master class in how a record like this can be done. I am hailing Galaktikon II: Become the Storm as the record that takes Brendon Small to the next level of his career.
Galaktikon II: Become the Storm is out August 25 on Megaforce Records. Pre-order it here!
