Just over one week, and we will be boarding the Independence of the Seas with 2,998 other metalheads and 60 bands for a mindblowing, four-day journey to Cozumel, Mexico, and back on the 70,000 Tons of Metal Cruise. While there are quite a few bands yet to be announced, the excitement is palpable. It is vacation, of course, and Photo Editor Jason Carlson will be traveling from the cold climes of Chicago, Illinois, and while I can’t complain about the weather in my hometown of Charleston, South Carolina, I am excited about checking out for a few days to spend time with my friends and celebrating our passion.
This week was marked by a number of announcements, most notably the inclusion of Exodus on the cruise. Following is this week’s scorecard!
Ghost Ship Octavius
Michael Schenker Fest (50th Recording Anniversary Shows)
Archon Angel (First Shows Ever)
At the Gates
Flotsam and Jetsam
The 2020 installment of 70,000 Tons of Metal will take place January 7-11 on the Independence of the Seas. It will travel to Cozumel, Mexico, and back, and it will feature 60 metal bands playing twice over the course of the trip. For more information, visit www.70000tons.com !
